Championship Meet Results

I would like to thank the swimmers who represented Menlo Masters at the 2007 Short Course Championships this past weekend in Pleasanton.  Menlo Masters has a long history of attending, competing, and fighting for the meet title in 2-3 swim meets throughout the year.

This year we placed 9th of the 54 teams with a total of 416 points.  Jana Matena was our high point scorer, amassing 58 points and topping the women's 40-44 year old age bracket.

Menlo Masters, in past years has placed as high as 2nd place with as many as 1200 points.  Our next team focus swim meet is the Long Course Championships, July 6-8 in Santa Cruz.  Recruiting efforts will be increased for this endeavor.

Roz Savage

She is a remarkable lady with a remarkable story.  Roz Savage rowed her kayak across the Atlantic Ocean in 103 days.  She is about to embark on another epic row to Australia beginning in July.  Roz is the definition of endurance and courage.

Come hear her story this Wednesday night, 6pm, at the Menlo Park Recreation Center.  Come see her kayak which will be displayed in the parking lot.  Come ask her those questions that immediately pop into your mind.  Come with your family and have them be inspired by this remarkable feat of courage and endurance.

This is an opportunity that may never happen again.  By a stroke of luck, I was introduced to Roz and feel the need to have her share her story with our team and the entire community.
