Burgess Pool Update - Volunteers Needed
May 17, 2006
by Tim Sheeper
In this edition:

Volunteers

The Burgess Pool Grand Opening is happening this Saturday May 20, from 12 noon to 4PM.

We are providing free swimming and splashing for the whole community, plus we are hosting a big free BBQ lunch for everyone.  If the weather is nice we will have over 1000 people attending.

We are also hosting a "sneak preview" Grand Opening" for all the city employees and their families on Friday May 19, 5-7 PM.

We are going to need quite a bit of volunteer labor to make this happen. As a team we can "nail" this, and demonstrate to the community that we are truly a team that works together and can rise to any occasion.

We need some volunteers help for:
1. Set-up on Friday and Saturday
2. BBQ-ing on Friday and Saturday
3. Marshalling/Directing flow on Saturday only
4. Clean-up on Friday and Saturday

Leslie Platshon, a long-time Menlo Masters swimmer, is the volunteer coordinator for this event.  She has also taken on the position of "Pool Manager" when we open Burgess for business.  If you are able to help, please email her directly (her email is on the team roster page).

Thank you.

New Website

We have started a new business that will be responsible for operating Burgess Pool.  The new entity is called:

Menlo Swim and Sport.

Menlo Swim and Sport will be operating 3 facets of Burgess Pool.
1. Instructional Programs
2. Recreational Programs
3. Performance Programs

We are all very proud of the website that just "went live" at the end of last week.  Please have a look:
www.menloswim.com

Lorraine Sneed, a long time Menlo Masters Swimmer and Tim Kuenster, our long time technical director teamed up to create an outstanding site that makes information easy to find and registering for programs a snap.

Judy Strauss

Keep good thoughts and wishes in mind for veteran Menlo Masters swimmer/coach Judy Strauss.  She is undergoing surgery tomorrow morning for breast cancer.
