Dynamic Duo
The Dynamic Duo is favorite team event that we have been enjoying for nearly 10 years. The concept is to assemble two swimmers together so all teams are evenly matched. To make this happen, I usually pair a male with a female. Then I pair lane 1 swimmers with lane 6 swimmers, lane 2 with lane 5 and so on.
The total distance that the team covers is 2000 meters. Teams are welcome to share the distance any way they see fit, although most every team exchanges every 50 meters. That is 20x50's. Dive starts are welcomed and used, but are not necessary.
The event usually takes around 25-30 minutes to complete. The first 5 teams in each heat are awarded fruit prizes for their efforts. There will be 10 teams in each heat. Each team will have their own lane.
The Dynamic Duo will take place Saturday morning October 21, 2006. We will have four heats.
Heat One 6:00-6:45am
Heat Two 6:45-7:30am
Heat Three 7:30-8:15am
Heat Four 8:15-9:00am
This event requires a timer/counter for each lane. There is no possible way one can swim fast and count to 20x50. So, that means that when you sign up to swim, either you or your team mate has to come early or stay late to record for another team.
Here is where the confusion begins.
Heat One swimmers, time for Heat Two swimmers.
Heat Two swimmers, time for Heat One swimmers.
Heat Three swimmers time for Heat Four swimmers.
Heat Four swimmers time for Heat Three swimmers.
Once you are assigned to a team next week, it is up to you and your teammate to decide who is able to handle the timing/counting duty.
Sign-ups are by sending an email to Tim or our Info email address requesting a slot in either Heat One, Two, Three or Four. It is on a first come, first served basis. You will get a confirmation email in return or an email asking for a second time option.
Please be as certain as possible when requesting a slot, so changes are held to a minimum.
This is a fun, low-key, fast-paced workout that will definitely challenge your sprint endurance. Hope to see you out there enjoying yourself.
