News
Thanks in part to our incredible staff members at Team Sheeper/Menlo Swim and Sport and to all of our fantastic Menlo Masters swimmers who supported us so intensely during the open bidding process for the operation of Burgess Pool. The City of Menlo Park has chosen Team Sheeper as the company they will be working with to negotiate terms for another 5-10 year facility agreement. Both parties are motivated to come to agreement on the terms so operations can continue to flow as usual. The following is a communication from The City:
http://service.govdelivery.com/docs/CAMENLO/CAMENLO_58/CAMENLO_58_20101215_010000_en.pdf
The process is not yet completed, but we are one step closer. Next steps are:
1. Contract terms negotiated.
2. City Council approval (Projected February 1)
2011 Team Goals
1. Continue to offer challenging, effective and efficient daily swim training sessions.
2. Continue to offer our traditional intramural events for diversity and goal setting motivations.
3. Continue to encourage participation in our team competitions to sharpen focus and skill.
4. Continue our community outreach and services to share our good fortune.
5. Continue to build a positive, healthy, and energetic group atmosphere so our individuals can use the benefits of the team to enhance their well-being
New Offering
Boot Camp! Free! It has been my longtime dream of mine to offer the Menlo Masters a comprehensive physical conditioning program that would cover every aspect of living a healthy, strong, and balanced life.
In my opinion being in the water for your fitness is just not enough. Everyone needs a land based exercise component to be able to optimize fitness. When the new gym was completed, we saw it as our opportunity to begin offering land based strength programming, hence the introduction of Boot Camp.
Each Boot Camp session is 50 minutes and includes components of yoga, Pilates, traditional and non-traditional strength exercises. We are proud of the fact that we have been able to attract high quality exercise experts to lead each class, and we are confident in being able to deliver an effective and efficient class.
We offer classes Monday thru Friday from 6am-10am, and 7:30-8:30am on Saturday.
I would like to see every swimmer exercising on land at least two days per week. To promote that belief I am offering Boot Camp to the Menlo Masters FREE for the remainder of December and for all of January 2011. If you like it and it works into your schedule, beginning in February you have theoption to continue Boot Camp by paying a small add-on cost per month. ($35/month or $25/month for quarterly commitment)
Come on over and try the program, bring a teammate, a friend or a family member. We need your assistance with infusing more energy and participation in our upstart program. I am betting you will like it. At the very least you can claim you tried it.

USMS
All of our swimming members need to be a registered member of USMS in order for our insurance to be valid. PMS has on line registration now, so you can use that process at www.pacificmasters.org . Please note that your account will NOT be charged for the PMS membership unless you submit a form to us to submit on your behalf. We will, however, be doing a check to make sure that all of our members have registered. Please take care of this as soon as possible so as to not put our team in jeopardy!
