Blue, Gold and Red Results
Led by Swimmers of the Year Dave Gildea, as the Blue Team captain, and Judith Schwartz, as the Gold Team captain, there was a great turnout for the Blue, Gold and Red intrasquad meet. While Blue dominated the participation competition in 2010 and 2011, this year Gold garnered a resounding victory with 227 swims compared to Blue's 186. Gold continued its winning performance for the second year in the shoe donation competition as well. With a final count of 61 shoes donated by the Gold team, they only slightly edged out the Blue team's 54. As always, the real winners are the kids who'll receive the shoes. Timi Most, teammate and mastermind of the "Red" aspect of this event, says: "there will be 115 homeless Bay Area children wearing beautiful new shoes to school in September thanks to Menlo Masters. This gift truly makes a difference in the lives of these children along with the new clothes MNRS will provide."
