The cans are counted and stacked at the food bank. The yardage is counted and compiled. The results are truly inspiring.

As a team we swam 7,027,055 yards last month.

We donated 2,611 cans of food as a result of that hard work.

We had 58 swimmers reach 50,000 yards and beyond.

We had 12 swimmers reach 100,000 yards and beyond.

We had 1 swimmer reach 200,000 yards and beyond.

The fact that our team came together and made a positive impact on the local community, while enhancing our own physical fitness in the process is outstanding.

When a crew of Menlo Masters volunteers delivered the food to the St. Francis Center on Friday afternoon it could not have come at a better time. We crammed the load into every nook and cranny of the very small food bank wherehouse, (About half of a one-car garage) which was running low on stock.

Sister Mary who runs the Center explained that not only the volume of our donations but the quality of food would be greatly appreciated by the 30 or so “working poor” families that the center serves everyday. Those families are only allowed to come once a month for food, and clothing, and they will be in for a nice surprise for the next few weeks.

Congratulations to Bill Burling, our top swimmer, and food contributor of the month with 200,200 yards, and the 11 others who broke into the 100,000 yard club. The results are as follows:

58 are the most swimmers we have ever had in the 50K club. This shows great team involvement, and the fact that a growing number of swimmers are pushing themselves to the next level.
